San Diego Pier Painting

One might call me “a late bloomer” in creating acrylic art on canvas.

My first painting of an old barn was done at the age of 65. I decided to become a more serious artist at age 67, taking art mentorship via Nancy Hughes at the Kensington Art Supply and instruction studio in southeast Calgary.

My work to date includes landscapes taken from photos from my various excursions throughout Canada, the United States, Mexico and Europe.

For landscapes, I enjoy creating an impressionistic painting of sorts, featuring colour and a perspective that is pleasing to the eye and captures the beauty of the space as it presents itself.

I like to do realistic renderings of animals and images from photos provided by family and friends.

An area that interests me is abstract or free spirited works that can enhance a space at home or office.

I hope you enjoy browsing through my gallery. MJ (Mel) Densham
